In one enormous deal, Hospital Corporation of America and the Colorado Health Foundation created the largest non-profit in the state (more than $2 billion in assets) and, at the same time, will transfer ownership of Denver's largest hospital group. While the transaction sounds monumental, HCA already had operating control of the partnership with the Colorado Health Foundation. Still, it's a continued consolidation of hospitals inside the HCA empire - with more than 160 hospitals and 100 free-standing surgery centers across the US and Great Britain.
